Opened in 1986, the course at Whitwood Golf Club may just be over twenty years old, but in its short history it has matured rapidly and become one of the finest examples of modern day golf design in the Yorkshire region, having been styled on plans drawn up by Steve Wells of Wakefield Council. It is found near Castleford in West Yorkshire and poses a real challenge to all levels of golfer, whether high or low handicapper, experienced or beginner.
It is a nine-hole course, which may put off the more discerning golfer, but it can be played as an eighteen-hole for which is offers a standard scratch of 70 and stretches for 6282 yards.
