Royal Ashdown Forest, founded in December 1888, is one of the longest established golf clubs in Sussex, the Old Course having been started in January 1889 and completed, amazingly, in May just five months later.
The courses at Royal Ashdown are famous for having no bunkers, instead using only the characteristic contours of the land, narrow fairways and streams, and the indigenous hazards of the forest to snare a wayward shot.
The Old course is used by the R&A as a Regional Qualifying venue and has recently hosted a number of championships.
The club welcomes visitors and societies. Societies can play the Old course by arrangement.
