Hindhead Golf Club boasts a fascinating history. The club was first inaugurated in 1904 by a group of enthusiasts that included Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, the first President.
In the same year James Braid and J H Taylor played a challenge match over 36 holes. Braid won 3& 2. In those days the length of the course was 5,770 yards but it is now 6,349 yards.
The course is an 18-hole heathland and heather layout that has hosted qualifying for the Open Championship. Interestingly, the front nine wind its way through majestic valleys formed by the Ice Age, emerging to the hillside plateau of the back nine - truly an unforgettable experience.
