The course is set in flat mature park land which was formerly part of the Drayton Manor estate, and notably once belonged to the Peel family - of which Sir Robert Peel, the founder of the police force, was the most famous. The tree lined fairways and picturesque views reward the golfer who can keep their ball on the straight and narrow. Although not long at 6473 yards off the white tees, this championship course is a true test of golf. The greens, re-laid to USGA standards in 2001, are slick and true. With continued improvements to the course including drainage, it is playable all year round with barely any winter tees or temporary greens.
