Springfield Park was founded in 1927, making it one of the older courses in the Greater Manchester area - it is also one of the most popular.
A part parkland part moorland golf course, the layout at Springfield Park is situated in a valley, which, in turn, allows for some superb views from many holes. The River Roch adds a little beauty to the general surroundings and also comes into play on a number of occasion.
For a municipal course, the greens are in superb good condition and overall the fairways are very well kept throughout the golfing season. The first few holes throw up partially blind shots and are quite hilly and sweep to the left. The 17th is called 'Cardiac Hill'.
