The course was officially opened in 1909 with an exhibition match between James Braid, the legendary Open champions and golf course architect - he also designed Walmer & Kingsdown - and fellow Open winner Harry Vardon. Braid won 3&2. The course offers a memorable and welcome test to players of all abilities and is open all year round. Visitors must book in advance to avoid disappointment.
