Ramsey golf club, on the North of the island, offers a course set on mainly flat ground, making it easy on the legs, although the holes from 7 through 16 are set on wooded parkland with a hilly backdrop providing stunning surroundings for a round of golf. Established over one-hundred years ago, it has a par of 70, quite generous considering it measures less than 6000 yards in length from the tee on the first to the pin on the 18th.
Amongst many demanding holes, the first is possibly the most demanding and sets you up well for the challenges ahead. It plays into the prevailing wind and so avoiding the hazards, including a stream cutting across the fairway, is not always in your hands.
