Callaway Apex irons’ ‘unforgettable look’

• Callaway announce ‘custom order only’ Apex Black irons
• Irons are precision engineered with Face Cup technology
• 200 sets will be available throughout Europe from June 3

Callaway has announced a ‘custom order only’ extension to the hugely popular Apex ’16 family, with the launch of the Apex Black Irons.

Sporting a sleek all-black look with a Satin Black PVD finish, the irons are precision engineered with Callaway’s Face Cup technology to give exceptional, consistent ball speed across the face and playability in a forged player’s iron.

High tech construction runs through the set to create a remarkable combination of distance, feel and control for any player. The longer irons (4-7) utilise the Cup 360 to increase ball speeds and forgiveness across the face and the shorter irons (8-PW), feature a uniquely engineered face plate to enhance feel and distance control.

“It’s a forged iron for all golfers, with an unforgettable look” – Dr Alan Hocknell

Dr Alan Hocknell, senior vice-president of research & development at Callaway Golf, said: “The progressive design in Apex Black creates scoring performance from long irons through to the short irons and Callaway’s high-tech, multi-piece construction provides a combination of distance, feel and control that can suit any player.

“The extremely soft feel of the Apex Black comes from quadruple net forging and mild carbon steel. When you combine all of these advanced technologies with the all-black finish, you have a forged iron for all golfers, with an unforgettable look.”

Callaway worked with its shaft partners to create two exciting offerings: a new True Temper XP 95 Stepless Shaft with a satin black finish, as well as a new blacked out UST Recoil. The irons also feature a unique ‘blacked out’ Lamkin UTX grip, as standard.
