The historic course at Gosport and Stokes Bay was first laid out in 1885. The club's claim to fame is that this is where the term bogey originated - a play on words from the term BogeyMan from a popular tune of the day. The course has changed a few times over the years and in the last few year has had some maintenance works carried out including the addition of an irrigation system and drainage improvements.
One of the memorable holes is the par 4 5th, 'Watery Grave'. With a lake running along the left hand side and a stream running through the ground just before the landing area only a long straight shot will do here. Overall the course is a demanding test of golf with superb views over the solent and Isle of Wight.
