THE VARIETY CLUB Golf Society has teamed-up with Golf for Disabled Children – a charity that arranges golf lessons for disabled children at local clubs.
Set-up and run by its founders, Michael Leek OBE and John Lee, Golf for Disabled Children currently operates from 12 schools in and around the West Midlands and the link-up with the Variety Club Golf Society aids with their aim of expanding the project to reach more children.
The charity, which is endorsed by Lord Coe, provides a course of six free lessons, with children come from local special schools and clubs.
The Variety Club Golf Society, founded in 1965, was already heavily involved in raising money for disabled children, purchasing Sunshine Coaches for schools and care centres. To date the Society has put over 1,150 coaches on the road, averaging over 20 coaches per year.
