Burton-based Branston Golf and Country Club has announced that new owners have taken over the premises following an amicable sale of the property.
The previous owners, Roger Kerry and the Kerry family, accepted a management buy-out offer from a group of local individuals which include Ben Laing, who has been a managing director at Branston since 2013.
“We are all passionate about retaining the core values of Branston and its independent ownership, which continues to differentiate the club from anything else in the region,” said Ben Laing, commenting on the acquisition. “I will continue as managing director and oversee the day to day operational delivery of all aspects of Branston.”
Branston G&CC original owner oversaw all stages in the successful growth and evolution of Branston over the past 25 years, and will continue to support both the club and new owners going forward.
“I’m delighted that the club continue to operate under independent ownership and with strong local connections,” said former owner and founder Roger Kerry.
The new owners are all locally based with strong family connections. In addition to Ben Laing, the other members of the buy-out group are Steve and Francesca Sharp, and Marcus and Abby Litting. The initial development phase included an 18-hole championship golf course, leisure facility complex including a swimming pool, and clubhouse.
Regarding any immediate changes, Laing added: “It is very much ‘business as usual’ for us, and the premium proposition across all aspects of Branston facilities will therefore be retained as a unique USP and integral part of the offering to both members and guests.
“Looking to the future, then we have reserved a significant amount of investment funding as part of our business plan. Branston has always invested in the facilities and services, and this will continue as we develop all aspects of the club.”
