Boys and girls undergoing rehabilitation at The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey, were delighted when local golfing hero Ross McGowan dropped by to present the charity with a $10,000 donation.
Professional golfer McGowan, and member of Banstead Golf Club, decided to donate his Abu Dhabi Invitational runners-up prize money to The Children’s Trust because he’d grown up near to the charity in Cheam, and had heard good things about the charity’s work.
McGowan explained: “I’ve been meaning to support a local charity for a long time now and I’ve heard lots of positive things about The Children’s Trust. It was great to be able to pop in and see how the charity will use the money and the difference it will make to the children at the centre.”
Dalton Leong, The Children’s Trust chief executive, said: “We are extremely grateful for this fantastic donation, it will make a huge difference to the children we care for.”
