Junior equipment company Golphin Ltd secures prestigious ‘Innovation of the Year’ gong
A british-based company has scooped the top prize at the HSBC Golf Business Forum Innovation Awards. Golphin Ltd claimed the prestigious accolade for its unique golf club sets that have revolutionised the way young children play the game.
Established in 2013, Golphin Ltd, through its Golphinforkids product designs, has made phenomenal strides isince launching at the Scottish Golf Show in 2014.
It has since become the official R&A coaching product for the ‘Swingzone’ at the past two Opens and impressed the Titleist Performance Institute so much they selected Golphinforkids clubs as the product of choice for their 15,000 coaches.
The R&A’s executive director, Duncan Weir, commented: “The high-quality and versatile Golphinforkids kit is very impressive. It is certainly well-geared for getting youngsters into golf and helping to address the undoubted participation issues the sport is currently facing here in Great Britain and Ireland.
“Getting youngsters interested in playing sport is admirable and, within golf, many people are doing their very best. One such example is Golphinforkids, whose product range is making a significant impact.”
ClubGolf Scotland, the Fife Golf Partnership and the Confederation of Golf Ireland have all invested in Golphinforkids to assist with their kids’ golf initiatives.
Golphinforkids was also the product for the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup kids’ golf competition, with some 2,800 kids experiencing a PGA demo of Golphinforkids at the event. Plans are now afoot to launch Golphinforkids in China at the Beijing Golf Show, with a similar move into the American market also in the pipepline.
