Highly respected design team take on new project at Bamburgh Castle – and the members love it
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club has recently appointed leading golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert to guide them through the club’s latest course renovation project.
The club, perched on the beautiful Northumberland coast, will now full access to the expertise of the design team, which has also worked on famed venues such as St Andrews, Royal Troon and Turnberry.
Mackenzie & Ebert is considered one of the hottest properties in modern golf day design, and club chairman Keith Whitfield said he was confident the duo had the know-how to further enhance the experience at the popular seaside venue.
“It is a real challenge to improve what is already loved by so many,” said Whitfield. “The experience of Tom Mackenzie and his team give us the confidence that we can make the course even better whilst retaining the character that makes it so special”.
Mackenzie said: ”I, like most other visitors, fell in love the place as soon as I saw it. Rarely will you find a course with such natural charm. We are delighted to be undertaking this project, which has got off to a great start with bunkering alterations to the 1st & 18th holes”.
The changes, whilst still underway, have been well received by members.
