Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Club is celebrating after receiving a five-figure grant from Sport England’s ‘Inspired Facilities Fund’ to refurbish its clubhouse.
The Greater Manchester club has been given £52,755 of National Lottery funding to refurbish the facility and provide improved access to the premises.
An important part of the local community, the club has been largely underused but it is hoped that repair of the access road and car park, in particular, will help to redress that balance.
Club president Graham Davenport said: “We are delighted to have secured this investment, which means we can upgrade the quality of our premises and access to the clubhouse to match the quality of our course.”
Sport England Property Director, Charles Johnston, added: “The Inspired Facilities Fund has had a huge impact on grassroots sport across the country. It’s great to see Mellor &Townscliffe Golf Club join the long list of successful clubs to benefit from this fund.”
