Grant helps Honiton answer calls of nature

MEMBERS of Honiton Golf Club will soon be enjoying the luxury of on course toilet facilities, thanks to a new National Lottery-funded project.

The new facilities have been made possible by a £24,000 grant from Sport England, which is working with local communities to get people playing more sport.

The East Devon club attracts a number of golfers who wish to continue to play but who are unable to cope with the hills of other clubs in the region. For this reason, the age profile in the 90-strong ladies section is relatively high and, with their need to visit a toilet during their round, the lack of a toilet on the course has become a problem.

However, the investment from Sport England will hopefully eradicate this issue once and for all. Jackie Seager, the lady captain, said: “It has taken three years to succeed at getting this grant from the lottery but the work has been worth it.

“Our ladies are absolutely delighted with this award and cannot wait to see the facilities installed. Our eternal thanks go to Barbara Mullett, She has worked tirelessly on this project from its inception and she really is a treasure.”
