Broxup’s double delight

Tom Broxup, of Cookridge Hall Golf Club, retained the Grantham Eley Trophy for the second successive year as he came out on top as the 2020 Leeds Amatuer Champion at Moortown Golf Club.

With the victory, Broxup sealed a sensational double for the year having already claimed the Leeds Amateur title last year, a feat only completed twice since the strokeplay competition’s inception in 1988.

The young starlet was hard pushed in his quest for glory by his opponent, Jamie Dunnion of Garforth Golf Club, finishing the first 18 holes only three holes down. Broxup showed his quality throughout the second round, producing an eagle-three on the seventh followed by three pars and a birdie on the 11th hole to finish the match with an 8/7 victory.
