BRANSTON Golf Club’s annual Junior Awards proved to be a huge success as the event highlighted just how much talent there is at the Midlands club. Young golfers of all ages collected awards and trophies and a huge crowd at the Branston Pavilion celebrated their triumph.
The evening was made even more exciting by the inclusion of a long drive simulator, along with putting and chipping competitions and a raffle that helped raise funds for the Junior Development fund. Mike Doyle, club captain at Branston, was typically enthusiastic about the number of young golfers coming through and about the future for his club. He said:
“Golf is one of the few games where life skills such as etiquette, self discipline and fair play feature highly. Thanks to the team around them, that makes Branston probably the Midlands’ finest club for young golfers as all of our juniors have an abundance of those elements.”
The award-winners included Harry Weeks, who was awarded with Academy Golfer of the Year, while Alicia Hancock won Outstanding Dedication and Benji Mills won the Outstanding Achievement award.
