A huge blaze has ripped through the clubhouse of popular English venue Lutterworth Golf Club. Emergency services were called to the Leicestershire-based club around 10pm on May 1, with appliances from nine different stations attending the scene.

Nobody was hurt in the fire but the clubhouse, along with a host of irreplaceable items such as trophies and photographs, appears to have been largely destroyed.

A statement on the club’s Facebook page said: “Sadly, there has been a major fire at Lutterworth Golf Club. The course and club will be closed until further notice. We will give more information when we can.”

Responding to the news, one golfer wrote: “The whole history of the club was etched throughout the clubhouse. Absolutely speechless and devastated.” Founded in 1904, Lutterworth has been played in its current form since 1996 and now boasts over 700 members.
