THE re-staging of the Antlers tournament – after a gap of more than a decade – ultimately turned out to be a huge hit.

It is an event with a rich history in amateur golf, dating back 86 years, and this year’s edition was surely one of the most dramatic.

A three-hole play-off was needed to decide the title, which eventually went to former Royal Mid-Surrey junior members Dom Cotton and Simon Peck, with a birdie at the 18th.

Many Walker Cup and future Walker Cup players played in the Antlers, including current Royal Mid-Surrey president Martin Christmas.

“Having taken part in the Antlers tournament and enjoyed it so much in the past, I was thrilled to see it return to Royal Mid-Surrey,” said Christmas.
