The superbly maintained and manicured course at Orsett Golf Club has the distinction of having been designed by the legendary golf course architect James Braid, the former five times Open champion and Fife born golf star. He laid out the plans for the course in the mid 1880s and subsequently it was enjoyed by golfers for the first time in 1889, making it one of the oldest courses in the entire Essex region.
It has all the typical characteristics of a Braid design: undulating, tight fairways, fast and well-protected greens, and some long holes that lull big hitters into a false sense of security, thinking they can outdrive the obstacles that are littered all over the course. How wrong they are though
