The site of Hylands Golf Complex used to be part of the Hylands Estate which was originally laid out as parkland gardens in the mid-19th Century. Today, the complex is home to two fine parkland courses running alongside the ancient deer park.
The 18 hole Hanbury Course is the longer and trickier of the two. Water comes in to play on a number of holes, but watch out for the 14th and 15th. The 14th green has a lake sitting behind it just waiting to ensnare an overly long shot. Your second shot at the 15th also needs to be deadly accurate to carry over the water in front of the green, but miss the lake on the right.
The 9 hole Pryors Course is a short, easy walking course that makes a great warm up for the main event on the Hanbury.
The complex also features mini-golf, a range of practice facilities and regularly holds open competitions.
