The Solheim Cup gets underway today as Europe take on the USA at Colorado Golf Club and Swedish apparel brand Abacus Sportswear, who are the official supplier to the European Solheim Cup team, have released details of what the players will be wearing as they begin the contest.
Commenting on the Friday match outfits, Chris Mattsson, designer at Abacus Sportswear, said: “To remain comfortable in the hot, muggy climate in Colorado it’s important for the team clothing to be lightweight, breathable and also light-coloured. Black or dark clothing traps the heat, which is uncomfortable for playing in, so we looked for the ultimate climate control pieces.”
Team Europe’s Friday outfits include the following Abacus garments:
Ives pullover – combining acrylic and cotton to provide an extra layer of warmth to contend with this week’s predicted cool, northeasterly wind.
Forged polos – made from Drycool technical fabric, which provides optimal wicking capabilities and added protection against the sun’s UV rays. The European Team has the choice of a short-sleeve or sleeveless top depending on the Colorado climate
Cleek trousers, shorts and zip skorts – part of Abacus Sportswear’s Drycool range, containing smart anti-crease technology, which makes them ideal for a full day of golf. The garment’s quick-drying properties also mean golfers don’t need to change to waterproofs in light showers.
