• Srixon add a brand new golf ball for 2016
• Ulti Soft is the result of ‘extensive’ research
• AD333 Tour gives tour performance to more players
Srixon says the new Ulti Soft ball gives softer feel on all shots from tee to green while also boasting attributes that help to make the transfer of energy from the clubhead to the ball more efficient, increasing the distance you’ll hit shots.
Created for golfers with low to mid swing speeds, it combines the soft feel with distance as well as control.
“Neither feel nor distance is compromised” – Ben Davis
“The Ulti Soft category represents over two years in extensive research and testing to produce a golf ball that helps golfers who don’t achieve the fastest of swing speeds benefit from super soft feel without sacrificing on distance,” said Ben Davis, brand and marketing manager for Srixon Sports Europe.
“Since initial velocity is limited by a rule, we have been able to lower compression to create higher launch angle, less spin, and more distance, which results in the soft feel of the Ulti Soft.
“Generally speaking low compression means low initial velocity; however, our technology has been improved based on material and structural development and made it possible to maintain repulsion and lower compression at the same time, ensuring neither feel nor distance is compromised.”
Alongside the new Ulti Soft, Srixon is launching an updated version of its AD333 Tour golf ball.
It’s a three-piece ball that has been created for players who want the same performance as the balls that tour pros use, but don’t have the same swing speed.
Like the Ulti Soft, distance, control and feel have been the focus, with the new AD333 Tour offering more in each department than the previous model.
The core has also been made softer, giving more airtime as well as more feel than before. Improving performance around the green has also been a big focus for Srixon, and it has made its SpinSkin more effective around the greens.
“This golf ball is perfect for golfers who demand the precision of a tour-level ball, but don’t necessarily have the swing speed of a tour pro,” continued Davis. “Our testing shows that golfers who have a swing speed of around 90mph with the driver gain distance hitting the new AD333 Tour over the Z-Star golf ball. Conversely, testing has shown that golfers with swing speeds of around 105mph and more with the driver would gain more distance with the Z-Star.”
