Ping unveils 3D-printed putter offering

One of the coolest things to come out of last week’s PGA Show in Orlando was Ping’s announcement that it will start to offer putters made by a 3D printer.

A revolutionary technology, it allows you to pick what you want the putter head to look like and Ping’s design team will go ahead and produce it for you using the 3D printer.

Unsurprisingly, this isn’t a putter that will be mass-produced. The price of a single putter is expected to be somewhere in the region of £5,000 to £10,000 and it will take 24 hours just to make one putter head.

Ping is hopeful, though, that the price of the machinery will continue to go down – currently around the $1 million mark – and the time it takes to complete a putter design will also decrease in the next ten to 20 years, making it a much more viable option for golfers that want the ultimate custom fit and custom design option.

Check out this cool video the guys from Ping produced in Orlando that tells you all about its 3D printed putters.
