In 1949 at Medinah Country Club, Titleist became the most popular ball at the US Open and it has remained that way ever since. When the players tee up at Pinehurst on June 12, there is every chance that the winner of the event will be playing a Titleist ball, such are the numbers of the game’s top player using its balls.
Therefore, to celebrate this milestone, the ‘66’ Pro V1 ball has been released. It will be used by players throughout the duration of the US Open and will be available to buy in selected UK stores.
Last year the ball manufacturer completed a clean sweep of the major championships, and this year at Augusta, Bubba Watson holed his winning putt with a Pro V1. Therefore it’s no surprise that yet again at the US Open the American ball manufacturer is the player’s No.1 choice.
‘golfers playing a Pro V1 or Pro V1x ball amassed 66 victories across the various tours.’
This follows on from the count seen across the worldwide tours in 2014. To date 9,300 players have chosen to put a Pro V1 or Pro V1x into play, compared to 1,463 for the nearest competitor and as a result of this support from the best players in the world, there have been a number of victories.
In all, golfers playing a Titleist ball amassed 66 victories across the various tours, compared to 15 by the brand’s nearest rival. As a result of this the special anniversary ‘66’ Pro V1s are expected to be a hit again at the US Open and have been released for members of the public to buy.
These limited edition balls are available in selected shops across the UK, so contact your local Titleist stockist or visit www.Titleist.co.uk for more information.
