Irby Golf Club, in Wirral, Merseyside, may sit not too far from the famous Royal Liverpool Golf Club, also known as Hoylake, but it still manages to acquire a healthy reputation as one of the finest tests of golf in the area.
There are countless great holes on this exciting layout, but none quite match the stringent examination that awaits at the short 7th, arguably the toughest par three on the course. The shape of the hole acts like a tunnel (because of trees either side) and any wind at your back or in your face is made to feel worse. With the trees on both sides, any side wind is hard to notice and normally results in a wet ball into the pond to the right of the green!
