Found just two miles outside Newbury is Newbury & Crookham Golf Club, home to a challenging course set on luscious verdant parkland that will have players, no matter how good they are, scratching their heads in bewilderment.
Ultimately though, if you keep your concentration and your patience, the rewards are there to be had. It is also one of the oldest clubs in the region having opened to golf fans for the first time in 1873 and based on designs by JH Turner.
It is a well laid out course that is easy on the eye but tough on the impatient player - so keep your cool to keep your scorecard respectable.
