For the discerning golfer who likes a tough test of his or her abilities, Stocksbridge & District Golf Club has a near ideal course. Although it is somewhat short in length, at least by today's standards, it is set on tough terrain and strong winds are a prominent feature, blowing across the course.

To put into context just how stern a test the course offers, consider that the amateur record stands at 3-under and the professional at 7-under.

The small, tight greens mean that your approach shots will need to be extremely accurate, whilst holly bushes are on both sides of the fairways on par-4s, near the centre of the greens. Not for the faint of heart, this is a fine test of golf.
