Designed in 1906 by the acclaimed Sandy Herd - the Open Champion in 1902 - and reconstructed further by esteemed golf course architect, Major Charles Mackenzie, in 1935, Pannal golf club has weathered the test of time well and remains as marvellous and well-maintained a course today as it did seventy or eighty years ago.
With fabulous views of York Minster and other such landmarks, it is laid out on gorse-covered, tree-lined land and has hosted many prestigious competitions, including the British Youth Championships in 1975, won by a young Nick Faldo no less. The par 3 third is a great test of concentration and accuracy with its long narrow green, three large bunkers lurking to the left and a considerable slope to the right.
