Laid out in 1936, and virtually unaltered since, by the legendary HS Colt, the man responsible for the design and remodelling of many famous courses, including St Andrews (New and Eden), Muirfield, Sunningdale, Royal St. George's, Edgbaston is a natural parkland course, surrounded by mature woodland on which accuracy, as opposed to distance, is required.

Nominated as one of the Top-200 courses in the UK by Peter Alliss, Edgbaston is set in the traditional double loop so that there are two starting places directly in front of the Georgian mansion clubhouse.
