With its well matured and reasonably flat course, Gosforth golf club offers a fine test for golfers of all abilities, whether high or low handicappers. It benefits from tree-lined fairways which make it all the more a picturesque place to play, and its superb location and easy-walking sees that it is popular with many local golfers, something which is enhanced no doubt by the fact that they are one of the few courses to invite non-members at weekends.

There are a number of hazards that require careful consideration if they are to be overcome, including the Ouseburn stream which features on several holes.
