If ever there was a golf course in England that deserves more attention than it currently receives then Seacroft Golf Club is it. Founded in 1895, Seacroft was originally a quaint little nine-hole venue. In 1900 it was expanded to 18 holes under the watchful eye designed of former Open champion Willie Fernie. In 1911 and 1923 there were major alterations but more than half the present holes are as Fernie designed them. The two nines occupying distinct levels with a central ridge of dunes dividing one from the other. Adaptation to the modern game has not spoiled the gloriously old fashioned feel to the golf with tight undulating and hogsback fairways and a number of blind shots, 75 bunkers and glorious views over the nature reserve, the Wash and the Norfolk coastline from various holes.
