The West Lancashire Golf Club was founded in 1873 and is one of ten oldest golf clubs in England, and boasts one of the most highly rated courses in the British Isles. It is twinned with Royal Montreal Golf Club Canada's oldest golf club which was founded in the same year.

It has a wonderful lay-out, and as a bonus offers panoramic views of the Mersey Estuary, Anglesey and the Welsh Mountains.

The West Lancashire Golf Club has hosted Final Qualifying for The Open Championship when it has been played at Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham and Royal Birkdale and will do so again in 2012 when the The Open returns to Royal Lytham.

The Club co-hosted The Amateur Championship in 2009 which was won by the Italian teenage sensation Matteo Manassero who joins an illustrious list of golfers (see History) who have played in competition on the links that are ranked among the UK's "Top One Hundred Courses"
