Designed by Mike Sattock and opened to the public in 1996, Westhoughton Golf Club, near Bolton, offers a fine test of golf to players of all standards, experience, handicaps and ability. It is challenging enough to make the more discerning golfer pause and think, without at any time scaring off those new to the game. An ideal place for any player then. It is quite a tight, narrow, downland course that will test how steady your swing is all the way round its eighteen holes. It measures little over 6000 yards from the tee on the first to the pin on the last, but the par of 70 is a good indication for you of the sort of challenges that lie in wait.
