The Bolton Golf Club will surprise a few first time visitors. What make look like an easy going, unassuming test of golf soon develops into something quite demanding, where a simple slip here or there can leave you begging for answers. Take for the first four holes, for example. You might be lucky enough to off to a birdie start, but you'll do very well to hold onto that shot never mind better it on the next three holes!

The 12th is probably the pick of the bunch on the inward stretch while the 17th is also quite a test. Saying that, this is a well-maintained heathland never fails to offer a pleasant round of golf and the views are pretty impressive, too.
