They say you can always tell how good a course is by how many people are waiting to get on the first tee. Okay, so it might not be your cup of tea to play a course that is packed to the brim with golfers (some like to play very much alone) but there is a certain comfort that comes from simply knowing that the money you hand over to the pro in the pro-shop to settle your green fee is money well spent.

And at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club, it is certainly well spent. This layout is busy for one simple reason - it is an excellent course that's full of character. It is a downland course but some holes are played through the orchards which used to occupy the site.
