Golf in Rimini

Emilia Romagna is a region famous for its cuisine, its art and culture and its fine-looking beaches. Yet, with an increasing numbers of visitors flocking to the area thanks to the creation of impressive championship golf courses, the secret is finally out - this corner of Italy has something very special for golfers.

One of Italy's richest regions, Emilia Romagna is filled with artistic and agricultural masterpieces and, in recent times, its golf courses have been itching to join such elite company.

Rimini, located in the southern part of the region near the picturesque Italian villages of Riccione and Cattolica, is one of the region's most beautiful places. Featured here are various tourist attractions, including the Arch of Augustus, the Amphitheatre, the Bridge of Tiberius and the stunning Temple of Leon Battista Alberti.

Rimini's golf course is another top attraction and it's easy to see why. Stretched out across the green Valmarecchia park, with an unrivalled view of San Marino, Verruchio and Torriana with Mount Carpegna in the background, this beautiful course is situated just a few kilometres from Rimini and its international airport.

With its 18 holes and an additional nine holes reserved for beginners, Rimini is a fascinating course. Designed by Brian Silva, it has softly undulating fairways dotted with bunkers and numerous lakes and water games. In 1998 it hosted the Rimini International Open, one of the leading events on the European Challenge Tour, so it's test is not to be taken too lightly.

This is a beautiful place in which to enjoy a few days golf mixed with a bit of culture and sight seeing.
