Golf in Germany

When golfers think of Germany they think of only one thing - Bernhard Langer. What the current European Ryder Cup captain has done for his home country in terms of putting it on the golfing map is so huge, it's almost incomparable.

Langer, a two times Masters champion, may now live in the USA with his American wife but the reception he receives at his annual homecoming to the Deutsche Bank - SAP Open TPC of Europe proves he is still adored by the country of his birth.

Gut Kaden was a course that went down well with the players and, considering it has hosted the TPC, is well worth the trip.

There are so many great courses in Germany and the best way to make sure you get the chance to play them is to get in touch with a tour operator.

The Klostermannshof golf course in Niederkassel is a popular haunt for many. So, too, is the Hohen Wieschendorf, a lovely course on the edge of the sea that offers some exquisite views as well as a sterling test to match.

The Club Zur Vahr course in Bremen, previous home of the German Open, is one of the best layouts in Germany. The course, set within 200 acres and heavily forested, demands accuracy and a lot of patience yet, in the end, is a tremendous test of your skills.
