Municipal courses quite often undeservedly get a bad reputation because of their "public pay and play status." Private members clubs do sometimes sneer at them because of this, but they certainly should not even try to sneer at the course at Stevenage Golf Club. It is as good as any private members club you will find in Hertfordshire. Indeed, there is a strong claim for it even being better than some of them, as it has all the typical qualities of a great course - fine layout, challenging holes, well looked after - but charges little over £10 for a round, whilst its big cousins charge exorbitant green fees.
At 6451 yards long it also has some big holes for you to get your teeth stuck into.
