Based on designs by the legendary JH Taylor, one of the Great Triumvirate, designer and former President of Royal Birkdale, and one of the founders of the PGA, Chadwell Springs was eventually opened in 1975. A nine hole course, it spans 6418 yards, thus is one of the larger courses in the Hertfordshire area, and the standard scratch score of 71 is certainly attainable if you maintain your concentration in the face of many tricky hazards, and choose your clubs carefully.
Non-members are welcome all throughout the week with the exception of Tuesday and Thursday mornings. At weekends, visitors are only permitted to play in the company of a member, but at only £15 a round, it certainly a course worth checking out.
