England’s leading resort at the World Travel Awards, The Belfry, has appointed Chris Eigelaar as its new general manager.
Eigelaar, who is originally from South Africa, brings more than 22 years of experience in the industry to the role, with his CV including roles in leading hotels and resorts such as DoubleTree by Hilton, Locke Hotels and QHotels.
“It’s a real honour to be managing The Belfry and to be able to work with such an experience team who are renewed for world-class services,” said a delighted Eigelaar. “Since a young age, I have always been passionate about working with people, and I am looking forward to supporting the growth and development of the team. The Belfry is a remarkable resort and I am proud to be a part of the family.”
The Belfry hosted the Ryder Cup in 2002 and underwent a £26 million renovation in 2013 that included a general uplift of the grounds and a refurbishment of Sam’s Bar, which was named after 2002 Ryder Cup winning captain Sam Torrance.
