Staffs club is 'growing the game'

Branston doing its part to help encourage newcomers to take up and enjoy playing golf

A Staffordshire club is making it easier than ever for would-be golfers to give the  sport a go.

Branston Golf and Country Club is launching a new series  of sessions to help beginners get in the swing. The four weekly lessons will teach the basics of golf for anyone starting out in the sport or looking to improve their game.

Head professional Steve Hadfield and academy manager Joe Docksey will host the Get into golf sessions at the club’s 20-bay driving range. They take place  on a Monday evening from 7pm to 8pm and cost just £20, with  all equipment provided.

INTRODUCTION

“No previous golfing experience is necessary and the sessions are open to all ages and abilities,” said Steve. “These sessions are an ideal introduction to a sport that offers many health and social benefits and those taking part quickly make new friends  as they get to grips with the basics of the sport.

“We offer follow-up courses so that those interested can further develop the skills needed to enjoy golf out on the course while providing a route into club membership, where everyone can enjoy the splendid social scene for which Branston is renowned.”

The club has a strong track record of introducing new players to golf and organises a monthly ‘new members’ evening to make sure newcomers quickly make friends and enjoy the  club’s facilities to the full.

INTEGRATED

One such new addition is Eric Kreinbrink, who has recently moved to the area from Ohio, USA, and he has already integrated into the club well.

“When my family moved to Burton, I looked around for a golf club that was like the ones back home in the States,” explained Eric. “Branston stood out for its range of benefits for me, my wife and our two young daughters, from golf through to the gym, pool, restaurant and even a lovely creche which makes it good value for money for all the family.”
