Calcot Park Golf Club is taking its dedication to junior development to another level with the introduction of its Junior Golf Foundation.
The Reading club is continuing to build on the success of its Junior Golf Academy, which was set-up five years ago to bring in and teach youngsters the game of golf, and the new Junior Golf Foundation is set to further develop the skills of junior golfers that show real ability. The club also hopes it will help youngsters aged between ten and 19 to develop valuable life skills.
Gareth Johnston, Calcot Park’s head PGA professional, says he wants all students of the foundation to become equipped with a complete understanding of all aspects of their game, and that will show in a substantial reduction in their handicap as well as an improvement in the quality and enjoyment of their game.
One thing the club is keen to stress, however, is that the Foundation is not set-up to look for the best junior golfers, but for players that will benefit from the support the most when it is coupled with their own determination and dedication. Calcot Park is also giving foundation students free membership at the club during the period of tuition as they continue with their tailored golf programme.
