PROOF that European golf continues to grow came with the second successive victory by continental players over their British and Irish counterparts in the Jacques Leglise Trophy.
The GB&I boys went down 15½-9½ at a blustery Ballybunion.
The result, which comes at roughly the same time GB&I were soundly beaten by the USA in the Walker Cup in the States, gives rise to the debate that European players should be involved in the Walker Cup in the future.
The European side included players from Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Germany.
"The players played impressive golf and we won seven out of nine points (in the afternoon matches) which is more than I hoped for so I am very happy with this result," said European captain Jeroen Stevens.
