Municipal courses are given a very bad name by some golfers who see them as nothing more than cheap imitations of those which can be found at private members clubs. However, let us consider this for a second.

Imitations? Yes, most are in every way as good a course as those you will get elsewhere. Cheap? Only in terms of money, as to play a 'muni' is to pay a fraction of the cost of a private members club's course - so surely municipals are more appealing for golfers.

Despite the snobby criticisms sometimes aimed in its direction, the course at Canons Court Golf Club certainly hasn't suffered too much over the years - it is time and again amongst the most played courses in Gloucestershire.
