The course, being on forest land, is a public one laid out over the old hunting grounds of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth. The club has a close and friendly relationship with the Corporation of London which administers the course. It is also the only Golf Club in Essex with the Royal Title.
The course may appear innocuous from the clubhouse but don't be fooled. Rising up and down three times from Chingford Plain into and out of Epping Forest, the course will provide a varied and interesting challenge of your skills. To preserve the natural appearance of the landscape, bunkers are only to be found away from the passing public gaze, on the upper holes, in the forest.
