Golf in Essex
If you're planning a holiday to the South East of England, it's likely someone will have touted Essex as one of the counties to consider. And why not? Essex is one of the most popular holiday locations in the whole of the United Kingdom and you can be assured of a memorable holiday wherever and whenever you go. There are innumerable great towns that are perfect for travelling golfers to set up camp and then spurt off on golfing journeys either up and down the coast or a little more inland.
You can take your pick from seaside towns such as Clacton and Southend or towns further inland, including Witham, Chelmsford and Epping.Burnham On Crouch is an undulating, challenging meadowland course that serves up unsurpassed views of the River Crouch. A number of holes present a tricky approach, requiring you to delve deep into your shot-making repertoire. Another great course is St Cleres, a course that is becoming more and more popular as time goes by.
Don't, however, forget to try the luxurious fairways of Royal Epping Forest, a particularly demanding course and certainly one of the unsung heroes of golf in the South East of England.
Accommodation, as you might expect, is relatively easy to come by in this part of England and most of the hotels run special deals with the local golf courses - a golfing partnership made in heaven!
