For only £18 during the week and £26 at the weekend, anyone can sample the delights on offer at the picturesque Consett and District golf club. A challenging, eighteen-hole moorland course with many tricky holes testing your accuracy from the tee, it is fabulously preserved and maintained by the ground staff and the greens are particularly fast so a visit to the putting green might be a good idea before you take to the course.

The par of 71 seems somewhat generous given that it sprawls over 6023 yards. However, that is merely an indication of the challenges that lie in wait. The cleverly placed bunkers and various other hazards rarely fail to punish any poor shot.
