Birtley Golf Club

The town of Birtley, just south of Newcastle, is home to Birtley golf club whose golf club offers a course to cater for all levels of golfer, whether high or low handicapper. The parkland course, set on undulating fairway, requires you to have a good knowledge of your irons as the greens are exceptionally well guarded by strategically positioned bunkers, which are unforgiving to any stray shot.

Although only a nine-hole course, there are different tees which allow it to be played as an eighteen-hole. On such occasions, the yardage becomes 5660 yards - and is therefore quite easy on the legs - with a par of 67. Visitors can play during the week at the cost of £13 per round although weekends are reserved for members.
